Homemade Crockpot Apple Butter

Crockpot Apple Butter

What you need:

1 bag Gala or Fuji Apples ( about 2 1/2 pounds)
1 tsp Cinnamon
1/2 tsp Nutmeg
** option for sugar, 1 1/2 cup white sugar or 1 cup brown sugar or 1/2 cup Ideal
or natural with no sugar

3- 8 oz ball jars

You will want to sterlize the jars by boiling them in water first.  This will ensure suggested shelf life.
The Apple Butter will have a shelf life of 18 months to 2 years or 3 months once opened in the fridge.

Wash Apples and core them.
Chop the slices and place into crockpot.

Mix the cinnamon, nutmeg and *sugar if your using sugar and pour on top of apples in crock pot.
Turn on HIGH for first hour.  Then to turn to low and stir a few seconds every hour.  Leave on low for 8 hours then turn back to high for one hour stirring often.  Remove from crockpot.  If you want your apple butter creamy you can put in food processor to blend well.  Pour into jars and ENJOY!
Delicious on Toast!
