Nurturing the Writer inside
The Daisy is my favorite flower. I love the Gerber daisy the best with its pastel colors and full petals. Larry says I have a black thumb and plants get sick and die when I am in charge of caring for them. I think he's full of it but I only have one houseplant that my dear friend gave my for my birthday 5 years ago. It is still alive but probably not growing to its potential.
I have been reading other blogs to see what people like to write about or what is interesting. I have found that these blogs appear to reflect the writer's personality as well as their interests. I'm finding that to be true with my blog as well. I am trying to spend time working on my blog and at least posting once a day. I read a lot of great advice on the Pioneer Woman's blog, which is fantastic by the way.
I think the writer inside is dying to come out and bloom into something really wonderful for me but I know it is something that I have to nurture the undeveloped writer inside so that I can enable a blossom of growth. I believe it is the same as one of my Gerber daisy's taking full bloom. The flower started from a seed that is deposited in the ground with care. As the seed takes root to the earth and grows every day so will my writing. Water and Sunlight are mandatory for daily growth as well practice and good energy are for me to write. Slowly the leaves appear and soon comes a flower bud. The flower then opens in full bloom with such beauty.
Nurturing is a vital process for anything that needs to grow. Mother's nurture their children so that they can grow and so do animals.
Writing can be time consuming and so fulfilling. I am truly enjoying writing and learning new things about me. I am so thankful that I can share what I know and people are inspired or motivated by my blog.
Enjoy....

Holiday Weekend
Aloha Friends.....
I've been up and at it for a couple hours this morning preparing for a Fish Fry we are having tommorow. Larry's dad is coming down from Zavalla and we are frying some fresh fish he just caught yesterday. My earliest memories of dating Larry are at his house eating fried catfish or white perch. There were always french fries and usally homemade hushpuppies and a gigantic salad and I can't forget the cheddar cheese and pickle tray that was always being snacked on while we waited for the fish. Larry's dad has always been quite the fisherman and the avid hunter. If we weren't having fresh fish then it was something that he had caught and killed from his hunting lease. I know I tried things at his house I never heard of eating in my life before. I grew up on a pretty boring diet. Same things over and over. Never once did we ever have Venison at my house. I think trying new foods after meeting Larrry sparked my taste buds into all the exciting things I eat today.
I am waiting on Larry's father ( George ) to get here now. I will be doing cleaning and grocery shopping later. I have a ton of things to drop off at the local Goodwill today. Larry and I did quite a bit of spring cleaning the past few days. We are getting ready for our move in the next 45 days and we want to start over in our new place with less "STUFF" We are simplifying our life. Less is MORE!
My menu for tommorow's Fish Fry includes the fresh fish George recently caught and french fries, hushpuppies and coleslaw. I always try and finish with something sweet and I plan on making cheesecake and maybe some cookies. My girls both love fried fish. I usually don't eat fried anything but I always make an exception when it comes to eating George's fish. Memorial day is usually a holiday that Larry and I spent on the lake with friends in the past. We are making new traditions for every holiday now. Our lives are so very different than they were 5 years ago. I think the accident prompted a different outlook on everything and especially when it comes to our family being together. It is important to us we are a very close knit family and know that we all 4 have each other. I really try to make lasting impressions and ensure stability with my girls. I want them to remember me for my strength and holding our family together through the toughest of times. I want them to know I am always there no matter what happens.
I am trying out a new DIY dishwashing deteregent and I plan on doing a tutorial on here. I will be working on it this weekend so look for my post soon.
Happy Holiday to everyone out there reading my blog. Have a safe and fun Memorial Weekend.

Being a good Listener... means being a good friend
Aloha friends.....
I had a really nice weekend. Quite a few things going on around the Baird house. Jordan went to her first prom with Daniel and she had a great time and looked beautiful. Saturday night was a very nice evening with my wonderful hubby. He surprised me with a Steak& Lobster dinner. We don't do those often anymore but when we do I enjoy every single bite. :) Sunday was wonderful. I went to a dear friends house and we hung out by her pool and relaxed. We did some catching up. I ended my Sunday with a 2 mile run and one of my killer 12 minute workouts.
My inspiration to blog this morning is being a good listener. As I have grown older I notice in each person I meet or in friends I know their ability to listen as I speak or as I tell them my story or my thoughts. Are they listening? Do they interrupt me? Do they let me finish my story? Do they really care what I am saying? I believe these are qualities in a person that determine a great friend. Sometimes it is better to just listen than it is to speak. You have had that conversation with that person that never lets you finish a sentence and your like OMG please let me finish?? I think we all have. I know in the past when I was younger and impatient I would become so frustrated that I would pull away from people even if they were my friends that did that. My maturity and patience has allowed me to be calm and let them speak now.
I think some people just want to get something off their chest or sometimes its something that is important to them that they just want to be heard. Listening to your friends or other people is a conscious effort to being a good friend. Practice being a good listener with someone today. It will actually feel good to be the one who is silent. It also makes the other person feel important and feel worth in the friendship.
Give it a try today.

ALOHA
I have a few things to share with you.
First, I changed my blog up a bit. I was not feeling the old blog- health and love in abundance. I don't think it expressed me as a person very well. I want to share my day to day experiences through my blog and I hope to give you an understanding of my life experiences.
I am posting a recent pic and I will be starting a new post on the subject of do it yourself. :)
